Young Liverpool star leaves Reds for relegated Swansea
By David Gate
Liverpool youngster Yan Dhanda has left the Reds to sign for relegated Swansea after not getting chances at Anfield to progress.
Young Liverpool forward Yan Dhanda has departed the club to sign for Swansea City. The Welsh side were recently relegated from the Premier League and Dhanda will join to help them get out of the Championship at the first attempt.
The 19-year-old striker has been one of the Liverpool Under-23’s best performers this year. It came as a huge shock to ardent Liverpool fans when the news broke of his impending release from the club.

Letting go of a real talent seemed like a terrible idea to those who have followed him for the reserves. However it now looks like Liverpool let him go at his request. On signing for Swansea, Dhanda states that he could have stayed at Liverpool. That means there was at least an offer on the table from the Reds.
It seems the issue for Dhanda was not money but regular playing time. He obviously feels ready to gain first team experience and could not see a ready path at Anfield despite being highly regarded around the club.
To be fair to Dhanda there is a log jog of options at the forward positions. It will take a Herculean effort from anyone to usurp one of the front three; Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke are next in line to those positions. Then waits Yan Dhanda’s fellow youth graduates Harry Wilson and Ben Woodburn. Add to that the returning Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge and you can understand his hesitancy at signing a new deal at Liverpool.

While you imagine one or two of the players lifted above will be sold or loaned out, there will also be incomings. The likelihood of Liverpool signing Nabil Fekir is increasing all the time – and he may not be the last with more rumors of Christian Pulisic emerging this week.
