Liverpool are to make a £48 million transfer bid for Brazilian midfielder Fabinho from Monaco according to the latest reports this evening.
Liverpool are taking no time to recover from Saturday’s Champions League final and are heading straight into the transfer market. The Reds are reportedly making a surprise £48 million move for Monaco midfielder Fabinho.
Respected French journalists Mohamed Bouhafsi and Bertrand Latour both tweeted out the news this evening and it is being widely reported in France.
The price ranges from £44-48 million pounds plus bonuses which seems in the region to convince Monaco to sell.

It seems the Liverpool hierarchy are resigned that first choice defensive midfield target Jorginho from Napoli will join Manchester City or possibly Chelsea in a bidding war. Klopp loves the Italian midfielder but is happy to move on quickly to other targets.
Fabinho was part of the stunning Monaco side that won Ligue 1 in 2016/17 and progressed to the Champions League semi-finals. That squad has been broken up piece-by-piece with Kylian Mbappe, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Bernardo Silva all departing in big money moves last summer.
Liverpool have long been rumored to show interest in Fabinho’s teammate Thomas Lemar. He was reportedly the first choice to replace Philippe Coutinho but the £90 million price tag was too prohibitive last summer and in the January transfer window.
Fabinho would be an immediate replacement for Emre Can who will leave Liverpool when his contract expires in June. The German is set to sign for Juventus over the coming days.

There is a great need in the Liverpool midfield for a defensive minded midfielder. While a combination of Can, captain Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum have filled the role, none of those players are specialist anchor men like Fabinho. It could be a busy few days for Michael Edwards and the transfer committee as talks for Nabil Fekir are expected to happen this week also.
