Former Liverpool star Dietmar Hamann has ripped into Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius for his ‘ego’ after his poor display in the Champions League final.
In the aftermath of Liverpool losing the Champions League final to Real Madrid there has been no holding back from laying blame at the door of goalkeeper Loris Karius. The goalkeeper was totally responsible for two of the goals Liverpool conceded and faces an uphill battle to stay at Liverpool beyond this season.
However one pundit has gone beyond critical analysis of the Karius and is attacking his character. Ex-Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann has taken Karius to task on a number of issues.

He begins by slating the way Karius reacted at the final whistle. While most onlookers saw the goalie’s approach to the fans as an example of bravery and courage, Hamann saw it as weakness.
Speaking to German sports website Bild he says: “I didn’t like was his behavior afterwards. To publicly show his suffering after the final whistle was just as unnecessary as his tearful asking for forgiveness from the Reds fans.”
It is a surprising take especially considering the magnitude of the moment and the levels of guilt running through the mind of Karius.
However, Hamann does not stop there. He dives in to claim it is a symptom of other character issues. Most notably the player’s ‘ego’.
“Liverpool fans forgive their stars just as well as any other… with one exception: when your ego doesn’t match your performance.”
He then goes on to give further example:
“Karius drives through Liverpool with the personalized number plates ‘LK1’ and makes waves in the city whenever he steps out. Having airs like that is something Cristiano Ronaldo… can pull off”

This seems like an unnecessary attack on a player who must be going through hell. Not only did he blow it for his teammates, coach and the fans but he put his whole career in jeopardy. While Karius clearly likes an Instagram selfie if I was that handsome and played for Liverpool I would too. Calm down, Didi.
