Did Emre Can go undercover to support Liverpool star Mohamed Salah during Egypt’s 2-1 loss to World Cup hosts Russia?

Fans on Reddit have spotted a supporter of the north-African country that looks suspiciously like the midfielder, who will leave the club after his contract expires.

Despite Salah scoring, the Pharaohs couldn’t manage to get their first win of the campaign and now it appears as if they’ll be crashing out at the group stages.

The Can lookalike pulled off his vibe perfectly, while the headdress gave the illusion of the German attending the fixture under false pretenses.

However, he is much more likely to be found thinking of ways he can snake his way out of Anfield on a free transfer. The Express has reported that his move to Juventus will happen immanently. Can is due to complete his medical and will officially become a Serie A player very soon, said the newspaper.

Talks between Liverpool and the player broke down some time ago over his insistence of a release clause. Manager Jurgen Klopp and the negotiating team firmly said no, the player’s camp wouldn’t budge and now he’ll leave on a free transfer.

Was it short-sighted of them to allow Can to depart without recouping a fee? Perhaps. But it also sends a clear signal that Klopp doesn’t want anyone in the squad who isn’t intent on giving their all for the cause. That contract demand proved the former Bayer Leverkusen man didn’t.

Back to the World Cup and Egypt take on Saudi Arabia in their final group clash, in what will likely be a dead rubber. Salah will be hoping to inspire the troops to their first victory, and they shouldn’t struggle too much against the opposition.

Some Liverpool fans may breath a sigh of relief that their talisman will be back to Melwood shortly and without any more injury, although a fairytale story would have nice.
