Top rated target Ryan Sessegnon would prefer a move to Liverpool Football Club but all may have to wait a year after Fulham’s promotion to the Premier League.

It was one of last summer’s lingering transfer rumors; Ryan Sessegnon to leave Fulham and join a Premier League team. Liverpool were first in the queue before Tottenham Hotspur decided they would out bid if the player wanted leave. Manchester United and Arsenal were also sniffing around.

The youngster decided he would be better off trying to help Fulham get back into the Premier League. He was right. Perhaps he is as smart as he is quick. The Cottagers won the Championship play-off to return to the top division.

Sessegnon had a stellar season in England’s second division. He scored 16 goals and grabbed 8 assists as a 17-year-old (he turned 18 in May). That is great production for anyone, let alone a teenager learning the game.

His stats are excellent but the eye test is even better – he looks like a top-level player. Similar to Raheem Sterling at that age but with a little more poise and confidence. There is no way Jurgen Klopp’s stated interest in the player had dimmed in the last year. Most likely the opposite.

His value has surely doubled over the last year. That is one reason Fulham owner Shad Khan is adamant to hold on to him another season. It should double again. From £20 million last summer to £40+ million this year. If he recreates his form and production next season he could be worth £80 million as a 19-year-old.

The good news for Reds is that he has already suggested back in March that Liverpool would be his preferred move. Liverpool have other priorities this summer but should be planning to break the bank for a Sessegnon transfer in the summer of 2019.
