Liverpool fans aren’t impressed with the suggestion that the club should sign Harry Maguire.
Reds legend Phil Thompson has said that the Leicester City defender would be the perfect man to partner Virgil van Dijk and urged the side to make a big money offer for Maguire.
In an exclusive chat with the Liverpool Echo, Thompson reckoned he’d pay up to £50 million for the former Hull City man – especially after his displays for England in the World Cup.
His ability on the ball, strength in the air and deceptive pace are all praised by Thompson, who thinks he’d fit manager Jurgen Klopp’s style of play perfectly.

Too slow and would be a weak link in our defence

Please NO!!!

The 25-year-old has played four games for England at this summer’s tournament as he’s emerged as an important figure in Gareth Southgate’s remodeled defence.
Leicester paid £12.33 million for Maguire in the summer of 2017 as his Hull side got relegated from the Premier League and their back four was picked apart, with Andrew Robertson joining Liverpool for a bargain basement price.
But the England international’s nine caps and 44 appearances for the Foxes has seen his value increase to £22 million, according to Transfermarkt.
At 6ft 4in, Maguire would form a very imposing defensive partnership with van Dijk, who is the same height. And Thompson believes that Liverpool will have to move quickly if they want to land their man.
"“No disrespect to Leicester but I can’t see him being there come the end of the transfer window. I think he would have been £50million before the World Cup and probably a bit more now. But I think he would be worth it,” said the legend.“Big clubs will be after him and I’d like to think that Liverpool would be at the forefront,” he concluded."

Maguire isn’t the first defender to be linked with an Anfield move this summer, and Croatia’s center-back Domagoj Vida is apparently turning FSG heads.
