Liverpool are the bookies favorites to pull off a shocking transfer move by nabbing one top star from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Nothing creates out-of-the-blue transfer rumors like a break in the World Cup action. Here is one from the last few days that may have passed you by; Liverpool are the bookmakers favorites to sign Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-Min.

After the forward played a key role for South Korea in knocking out tournament big dogs Germany he was immediately linked to a move to Anfield. BetStars gave Liverpool odds of 11/8 to sign the Korean attacker.

He had an excellent 2018/19 season for Spurs; scoring 18 goals and grabbing 6 assists. However he could soon see himself on the edge of the first team if Spurs make either of their rumored moves for Borrusia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic or Real Madrid’s Champions League final man-of-the-match Gareth Bale.

It is obvious to anyone with eyes that Son Heung-Min would be a very good addition to the Liverpool squad and an ideal player to operate in Jurgen Klopp’s attacking system. The issue would not be around this transfer’s outcome on the pitch but whether Spurs would be willing to sell him; and if he would be willing to come to Anfield.

There has been no further news since this rumor first appeared and that makes you believe it is just idle transfer speculating in between World Cup fixtures.

Despite this being an unlikely transfer for all but the bookies, Liverpool are looking for a versatile attacking midfielder as their top transfer priority.

The most obvious name is Xherdan Shaqiri. The Reds have confirmed interest in signing the Swiss playmaker and now his international duty is over a deal may happen soon.

That transfer would be a good squad move for Klopp’s side but they also need a high-calibre attacker to compete with and backup Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. A reported move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt would satisfy manager and fans alike.
