Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren is celebrating his side’s World Cup Semi-Final win as Croatia beat England but he credits a strange reason for the victory!
There are many factors that go into winning a football match. There is the ability of the players; the tactics of the coach; the support of the fans. But Dejan Lovren is crediting Croatia’s victory over England at the World Cup to something else entirely. And it’s a bit weird.
While being interviewed after the game, the much maligned defender spoke about the country going through war and coming through the other side. He holds that responsible for the success they have had in basketball, tennis and other sports. So far, so normal.

But then he adds on: ““I would say we have good mothers and fathers. They are making good love I would say.”
Hang on. What now?
I am not sure if Dejan Lovren is saying that his countrymen have good genes or if there is a lot of love in Croatian families. But “making good love” sound more like the sexual quality of Croatian parents is the underpinning of their success…. okay mate!
Lovren had a difficult first half in the Semi-Final but was outstanding in the second half and extra-time. He helped limit England to just one shot on target all game.
After some heavy criticism last season after his horror show against Spurs at Wembley – he was subbed off after 31 minutes – he has put together a good run of form. He now has a Champions League final and a World Cup final to add to his CV.

France will be heavy favorites for the World Cup final but if Croatia can pull of the spectacular then he will join Roger Hunt and Fernando Torres as Liverpool players who have won the World Cup while at the club.
