Chehade is thought to have the inside track with the player and his agents. The Liverpool press have distanced the club from speculation that the deal could still happen.

The report states that Fekir remains Jurgen Klopp’s transfer priority and the player he wants to complement his dynamic attacking unit.
While claiming the deal is all but off as things stand, the player still desires the move to Anfield and Lyon are searching for a replacement.
He then goes on to say that the recent news from the Ligue 1 side that they aren’t going to sell Fekir is simply a cover to give them leverage in any potential deal.
The noise that Liverpool are out of the transfer could also be viewed as a tactic to put themselves in the most advantageous position in negotiations. Both sides claiming they are happy if this transfer doesn’t happen but almost everything indicates everyone still wants a deal to happen.

This will be very welcome news for many Reds fans who are desperate to see Liverpool add one more attacking player this summer. However there will be those who are fed up with the saga and will pay no attention to the rumors until something more concrete appears.
The transfer window closes on August 9th just two days before Liverpool kick off the Premier League season against West Ham at Anfield.
