AC Milan star Suso has spoke about Liverpool and how his former club taught him how to love football in recent interview.

He’s the one that got away. It is rare that Liverpool let a youngster go who goes on to become a top player. You expect Luis Suarez, Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho to go on and be great because of the small fortunes other teams pay out. But Suso left Anfield for next to nothing and has become a star in Serie A.

The AC Milan playmaker has risen to become the fulcrum of the Italian’s attack and is now attracting transfer interest north of £40 million. The Reds let him go for just £1 million in compensation.

The Spaniard joined Liverpool in 2010, initially on loan while the club secured a work permit and left in 2015. He was part of the first team from 2012 onwards, featuring 21 times for the Reds with only one goal.

Despite watchers of the youth setup being excited about his ability he found it hard to be trusted by Brendan Rodgers and left the club shortly before Jurgen Klopp’s arrival. Many wonder whether or not the current manager would have been able to nurture the youngster better. We’ll new know.

Speaking about a host of things to Spanish newspaper Marca Suso mentions his time at Anfield saying: “There they taught me to love football and to become a professional. And playing in Anfield, which is one of the best stadiums in the world, is quite an experience.”

There was talk a few months ago about an Anfield return for Suso but he says in the interview that he is very happy in Milan. He has turned down a handful of moves away from the club and is concentrating on challenging Juventus for the Serie A title next season.
