Six stars named in Premier League top 50
Six Liverpool stars have been named in the FanSided.com Premier League top 50 list of players.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk all made the cut – which you can check out by following this link.
Dutch skipper van Dijk was the highest ranked defender as he was named the 18th best player in the league. For comparison, Tottenham Hotspur duo Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld placed 21st and 23rd.
While Henderson was considered to be a better player than former Premier League luminary Cesc Fabregas, Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva and Everton man Gylfi Sigurdsson. FanSided described the midfielder as ‘a crucial player for one of the best teams in the league’ as Henderson was named the 41st best player in the competition. We’ll take that.

One surprise is how well Keita scored, given that the former Bundesliga star is yet to kick a ball in anger in England. The midfielder was placed in 27th, ahead of both Heung-min Son and Willian. This reflects Keita’s impressive reputation and the price Liverpool paid for Leipzig for his services. No pressure.
The terrible trio of Salah, Mane and Firmino all came within sniffing distance of the top three, while Salah was just pipped to the crown by N’Golo Kante and the incredible Kevin de Bruyne.
Mane was named in 13th place, Firmino in 12th. Both players are still improving under Jurgen Klopp, and you’d expect both rankings to get better after another season goes by.
But this is the one nobody expected would have the impact he did. Salah arrived as a Chelsea castoff and finished the campaign as an absolute legend.
With 43 goals under his belt already, Salah proved to the world that he’s a quality act. Long may it continue, starting against West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
