Liverpool fans are questioning the news that Andrew Robertson will not be offered a new contract despite becoming a key first team player.

It seems that Liverpool are dishing out new contracts all over the place. The news that Roberto Firmino had signed a new deal at Anfield was swiftly followed by Mohamed Salah bumping up to a new contract. But it appears there will no improved terms for Andrew Robertson any time soon.

The Scottish left back has become a fan favorite after gut busting displays against Manchester City last season and a high level of consistency. He signed a five-year deal when he joined the club in the summer of 2017 and many believe he should be getting more money to reward for his stellar rise.

However, the Liverpool Echo are reporting there are no forthcoming negotiations while revealing that his current contract is heavily incentivized. That means his long run in the first team is giving him more money. They say there will be no talk of a new deal until at least the summer of 2019.

Liverpool fans are almost unanimous in believing Andrew Robertson deserves improved terms. The first team role is clearly his and Alberto Moreno is now nothing more than a Robbo understudy.

But four years is a long time. The club have him tied down and don’t need to worry about him leaving any time soon à la Emre Can. He is clearly happy at Anfield and is having the time of his life. His career has gone firmly in a northward direction in the last 12 months. He knows that is due to the faith showed in him from Jurgen Klopp.

The club gave Salah a new deal after only a year at the club because he had a season for the ages. There were also longing eyes from Real Madrid at the Egyptian. Robertson is not about to attract £100 million interest from La Liga; though he absolutely should. He’s magic.
