Liverpool summer signing Bobby Duncan grabbed two goals as he helped power the Liverpool Under-18s to a 5-1 victory against West Brom.

It is widely being hailed as one of the best Liverpool transfer windows in memory. The world record-breaking move for Alisson Becker and the steal of Naby Keita alone would make it a good one. Adding the potential of Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri to elevate the Reds could make it an all-timer. But don’t forget one young player who is already making his mark on Merseyside; Bobby Duncan.

The 17-year old was picked up from Manchester City this summer on a free transfer. He had been struggling to get game time in the Man City youth sides despite featuring regularly for England at Under 16 and Under 17 levels.

While he is an exciting talent in his own right many Liverpool fans were excited about the prospect of Bobby Duncan as he is the cousin of Liverpool legend and current Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard.

Today we got to see what a good signing he is for the Under 18s. His teammate and captain Paul Glatzel bagged a hattrick and Duncan came within a whisker of matching him. Duncan hit the post in the first half and had a goal disallowed in the second to prevent him from turning the brace into a hattie.

Jurgen Klopp clearly believes in the young talent he has at his disposal after not signing a striker this summer and letting Danny Ings go to Southampton.

With Divock Origi expected to leave to a European club before the end of the month that leaves just Daniel Sturridge as experienced back up for Roberto Firmino. Klopp will expect Dominic Solanke and Rhian Brewster to be the next men to contribute.

Klopp’s ability to develop young talent is famous and he will be excited to see how the Under 18s youngsters develop in Barry Lewtas’ side this season.
