Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has once again called out a dry pitch as the Reds failed to play at their fluent best against Leicester. But is he becoming obsessed with the matter?

This isn’t the first time that Klopp has called out ground staff for a lack of moisture in the surface. The German has previous from Liverpool’s draw against West Brom and Southampton last season and has done it again after the Leicester result.

Back in May 2017 the Guardian reported how the Reds gaffer moaned about the condition of the pitch and said it stopped Liverpool from playing their best football during a 0-0 draw with the Saints.

Sky Sports reported similar complaints from the former Borussia Dortmund boss as his team failed to beat an already relegated West Brom at the Hawthorns – even though Liverpool surrendered a 2-0 lead as the Baggies hit the back of the net twice late in the game.

And now the Independent have ran quotes from Klopp that indicated he thought another dry surface was responsible for the Reds inability to play their best football – and there is clearly a theme here with the German.

“We could have scored earlier in the game, I said a few times in the past a dry pitch mean not good football”, he complained.

Every manager has their excuses after a game that didn’t run according to plan, but maybe the gaffer needs to think about shelving this one. Blaming ground staff and insinuating dirty tactics by home sides shouldn’t be aired in public, even if Klopp rants about it behind closed doors.
