The worst Liverpool players so far this season will definitely come as a shock to Reds supporters all around the world.

With four games played, the Reds are sitting on maximum points with a healthy goal difference to boot – thanks to a defence that has conceded just one goal all season.

One man who has contributed much to that success is Naby Keita, but the boffins at WhoScored.com haven’t really liked what they’ve seen from the former RB Leipzig man.

Keita has come away from the opening portion of the campaign with the second worst rating out of those who have started more than one game – while his midfield counterpart Gini Wijnaldum has the dubious honour of sitting at bottom in the list.

Out of his three starts and one substitute appearance, Keita has amassed an overall rating of just 9.95 – while Wijnaldum has an even worse one and comes in at 6.89.

Both of these players probably haven’t been helped by their lack of success at the pointy end of the pitch as they’ve gone goal and assist-less for the campaign. However, this isn’t really a true marker of the impact the duo have had on the team.

Keita has added strength, power and an eye for a tackle in the middle of the field. The midfielder has a terrific energy and allows Liverpool to spring effective counter-attacks, unleash their wingers and get the best out of attack that’s waiting to pounce on a well threaded pass.

While Wijnaldum has actually had an impressive start to the season, which has led manager Jurgen Klopp to sing his praises in press conferences.

If those two remain the worst players at the end of the season you’d be surprised, although perhaps you wouldn’t really mind that much as it would indicate extremely impressive performance levels from everyone else in the squad!
