Barcelona up to old tricks as they pursue Liverpool transfer move
By David Gate
Liverpool will face another transfer window of Barcelona pursuing one of their players after news emerging that the La Liga side want Alberto Moreno in January.
They just can’t leave us alone. Barely a transfer window goes by without Barcelona sniffing round the Liverpool squad trying to disrupt players to snag. This time around it won’t be one of Jurgen Klopp’s elite stars but one of the squad players.
Alberto Moreno is on the Barcelona radar according to reports in Spain. The Catalans are looking to add another left back to their squad and have highlighted three Spanish defenders for their transfer list.

Alongside Moreno is Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal and Atletico Madrid star Filipe Luis. That pair are significantly older than the 26-year-old Liverpool man. Monreal is 32-years-old while Luis is 33-years old.
Both of those players are also first team regulars for their sides while Moreno is firmly Andy Robertson’s backup at Anfield. That is leading many to believe it will be Moreno to be the one who Barca pursue hardest when the window opens.
This will be nothing like the transfer sagas that surrounded Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho. Those two were considered Liverpool’s best players at the time of their moves away.
If Moreno were to leave there would be a section of the Liverpool fanbase who would be glad to see him go. He has a reputation as an error prone defender; good technique and excellent physical attributes but lacking indecision making and execution.
However a transfer move of around £12 million would leave Jurgen Klopp short at the position unless an adequate replacement can be found.
It will be interesting to see how Moreno feels about a move. He clearly enjoys his life at Anfield and has strong relationships here. Though a move to the La Liga giants and reuniting with Coutinho maybe too much to resist.
