The stats that prove Liverpool will beat Tottenham
Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur in London on Saturday afternoon as the Reds seek to continue their unbeaten Premier League run.
For a start, perhaps all isn’t well with the Spurs defence. While they haven’t been chronically leaky, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have got in a habit of conceding at least once a game – and that’s against opposition attacks who aren’t exactly lighting up the world.
That means Tottenham are letting whoever they play create chances, which is good news for the Reds. This is good news because once Liverpool create a chance, you can bet that Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino or Sadio Mane will probably be on hand to finish it off.
Despite having a few struggles of their own, Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have still managed to be winning at half time and full time during their last five games. This is an incredibly positive stat as it shows that when Liverpool get themselves in a leading position, they don’t often let go. You can thank Virgil van Dijk for that improvement.

Tottenham have also only won once in the last six meetings between the two oufits. While that was an embarrassing 4-1 win, that can be discounted as a blip on the radar. The team Klopp puts out on Saturday will be a vast improvement on the one that got beat with Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Simon Mignolet and Alberto Moreno in it.
Furthermore, according to WhoScored, the Liverpool top players are ranking higher than their Spurs counterparts. While Keiran Tripper is Poch’s best (with an impressive 7.64 rating), Trippier is blown away by Mane and Salah – who both scored higher than the defender.
Reading further down and Tottenham count Jan Vertonghen as one of their top goalscorers, which tells you that all isn’t rosy with the Lillywhites front line.
But regardless of statistics, this won’t be an easy game. It never is against Spurs. But Liverpool are an improved side with winning momentum and should have enough in the tank to come back to Merseyside with all three points.
