Liverpool maintained their perfect start to the season with an excellent 2-1 victory over Tottenham at Wembley today. Here are five things we learned.
The Reds entered into this weekend’s game with Spurs with something to prove. The perfect start to the season had many observers saying “wait until they’ve played someone good”. Tottenham Hotspur are a string side but they were pushed aside by an organized and determined Liverpool team. It was a joy to watch.
There is precious little room for error in the Premier League anymore. Man City set an incredible pace last season and show no signs of letting up. Chelsea have been reinvigorated under Maurizio Sarri and so the Reds cannot afford to let any points slip.

The bad memories of last season’s mistake-ridden visit to Wembley in the same fixture were washed away by a performance marked by professionalism and composure. That is not something you have said often about Liverpool in the last decade.
After three tricky away games Liverpool have maximum points. It took them 10 games last season to get to 15 points. They’ve done in it five this year. Here are 5 things we learned from the excellent victory against Spurs:
No.1 – Wijnaldum Breaks Away Goal Duck
After 58 long games, Gini Wijnaldum finally has his first away goal in the Premier League. I can’t think of anyone who deserved it more after a superb start to the season for the Dutchman. It was yet another header in a big game from the midfielder who’s picking up a habit of doing such – Roma, Chelsea and City all previous examples.
It was actually the 19th Premier League goal of his career, 11 of which came for Newcastle. It’s of course special as it breaks a duct that had been going on for years for the tireless Dutch international. All breathe a sigh of relief for Gini.
