Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has picked out this Barcelona type quality from the Reds after they beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 at Wembley.

The Reds went ahead through goals from Gini Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino, before Spurs pulled one back in extra time thanks to Erik Lamela.

And Souness feels that the front three have a very Barca like feel about how they go about their game, especially when it comes to the amount of work they get through.

Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah all graft extremely hard for the Liverpool cause – and this is something the Anfield legend loves about the trio.

"Talking after the game, Sky Sports reported that Souness said: “You go back to Barcelona at their very best, you sat back and enjoyed their passing and moving football… but it was easy to overlook their work-rate.“It’s the same with this Liverpool team. You admire the goals and creativity but can overlook the intensity they play with when they don’t have the ball.”"

Jurgen Klopp has now overseen a perfect start to the Premier League season, with the Reds currently sitting pretty with five wins from five games. However, Chelsea also have the same record – which takes a bit of gloss off the achievement.

Liverpool can’t afford to dwell on compliments or the league for too long, as they face a tough game against Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League on Tuesday. But that’s what European nights are all about anyway.

Klopp and the boys will take heart from their performance against Spurs, but will want to improve the quality of their finishing before playing PSG.

Firmino hit the back of the net again, which is encouraging for the Brazilian. He had come in for criticism after the World Cup, but has begun to respond in the perfect manner and will feel more confident.
