These stats prove why Liverpool fans shouldn’t worry about Salah finishing

Liverpool fans are worried about the form and finishing of Mohamed Salah but these stats prove that there is nothing to fear for the Egyptian forward.
Are you worried about Mohamed Salah? Many Liverpool fans are beginning to be concerned that the Egyptian winger is not scoring at the same rate or playing at the same level as his blistering debut season at Anfield.
He has two goals and one assist in Liverpool’s first six games of the season. That pace is far behind reaching the 44 goals and 17 assists he put together last term. Inevitably people are questioning his mental attitude or his fitness after his injury in the Champions League final.

However, there is some encouraging statistical analysis that can put your mind to rest. Our parent site FanSided.com has put together a look at Salah’s early season form compared to last year. The two openings compare well with each other.
The forward has only one less goal than at this point of the league season on last year and has actually missed LESS big chances than he did in the first five games of the 2017/18 Premier League season.
The article also highlights another false perception; that Sadio Mane is performing significantly better. It shows that he is reaching a similar level to last year and actually is not as prolific as his debut season in 2016/17.
Many fans hate the ‘Expected Goals (xG)’ stats. They prefer to use their eyes and a host of other stats to make their assessments. The ratings on Whoscored.com from last night’s game will go some way to confirm suspicions that Salah is not quite right; he was dead last in the ratings with 5.67 out of 10.
Jurgen Klopp was not afraid to rotate his front line last night with Daniel Sturridge replacing Roberto Firmino. Perhaps he should give Salah a rest this weekend against Southampton and let Xherdan Shaqiri make his first start against the Saints.
