Chelsea cup clash is the perfect game to feature this Liverpool player
By Josh Ricker
Many Liverpool fans are still awaiting the full debut of new summer signing Fabinho.
The Reds take on Chelsea on Wednesday in the Caraboa Cup, and everything lines up for this to be the Brazilian’s first start in a Liverpool shirt. It’s a game that fits in the middle of a tough run of fixtures, from Tottenham Hotspur to Manchester City.
These two Chelsea games, first in the cup and then the Premier League, are two very significant fixtures that could affect what hardware is available for us at the end of the season.
Everybody knows that Jurgen Klopp will start his go-to side in the league game on Saturday. With our flying start in England, Klopp will not want to drop points at Stamford Bridge to a side that we will be fighting with at the top for most of the year. So the question is who will start against the Blues on Wednesday?
Klopp has made an omission about what his team will look like in an interview with Liverpool FC: “Simon (Mignolet) will start, all the rest you have to wait until tomorrow – but it will be a good team, believe me.”
So aside from the goalkeeper which has already been selected, the manager plans on choosing still a solid team. This will be a game where he can rest some of the midfield and attacking options for Saturday. With James Milner and Gini Wijnaldum both playing a lot this season, it would make sense if they get replaced in the midfield.

We know that Klopp likes to give chances to people in these early cup fixtures, and they can be influential to a player’s breakthrough into the team. So Fabinho seems like the perfect choice in this scenario. He can come in, provide one of the midfielders with a break until the weekend, and also provide Klopp with the skill the team needs to go through to the 4th round.
Not to mention, that if the boss does start the Brazilian, it will be a huge burden off of his back as to when he will make his debut. A defensive minded central midfielder would not be a bad option against the likes of Eden Hazard either.
There has been many theories as to why Fabinho has not made his debut yet ranging from the language barrier, to his actual skill and how he fits into the team and even Klopp setting an example about how competitive he wants the team to be to fight for places.
Nevertheless, it seems as if the third member of Liverpool’s Brazilian trio could appear in what hopefully is the first of many games with the Liverbird on his chest.
