Liverpool fans cannot get enough of top defender Virgil van Dijk after another peerless display against Chelsea in the Premier League.
The legend of Virgil van Dijk continues to grow. Since arriving at Anfield in January of this year the Liverpool defense looks like a different unit, in no small part to the Dutch defender. Against Chelsea on Saturday was more evidence of the center back’s imperious form.
The Blues started with Oliver Giroud as striker with Eden Hazard in a free role and Willian tasked with hassling the Liverpool defenders.

The Redmen defended well all game but for one moment where Trent Alexander-Arnold was caught chasing the ball in midfield and did not recover to allow Eden Hazard space to score.
However anything near van Dijk was swatted away with the insolent dismissal of a bear bothered by a fly. The Dutchman was unshakeable in defense and insightful with passing; his favorite pass being an inch perfect ball to Mohamed Salah which is now standard in Liverpool games.
Kopites have been hailing van Dijk since his arrival and the mainstream media has been following them in recent weeks. Even rival fans are grudgingly admitting he is the best in the land.
One fan dubbed the current Liverpool side as having “Big Dijk Energy”! If Virgil is Pete Davidson then Premier League strikers are Arianna Grande; they struggle to walk after an encounter!

Joe Gomez once again confirmed that his best position is center back and that Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip should be considered understudies to the Englishman. Andrew Robertson was key again at both ends of the pitch. One perfect cross should have been turned in by Xherdan Shaqiri shortly after the Swiss international’s introduction.
There was also a standout performance from Alisson Becker – three saves that kept the Reds in the game. No-one predicted that it would be the Liverpool defensive unit drawing rave reviews while the attackers would be stalling, but here we are!
