Liverpool take on Manchester City an Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday. Both teams are unbeaten, but these four stats prove the Reds will win.

For some reason the league leaders have had the better of the Citizens for the last six games. Jurgen Klopp just has a way with Pep Guardiola, which must drive the former Barcelona manager batty.

In fact, the Reds have won four out of the last six meetings between the two sides. There were two 2-1 victories, which came after a couple of belter matches that ended 3-0 and 4-3 to Liverpool.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were the chief destroyers during those high scoring encounters – and something always seems to happen when Mane takes to the field against City.

Amazingly, Liverpool are also unbeaten against Manchester City in their last 18 home games across all competitions. That’s a truly ridiculous stat given the riches available to the Citizens and their success since the oil money rolled in.

But now Liverpool isn’t just about attack – Klopp’s team can defend too! As ridiculous as that sentence will seem to those who’ve watched the Reds over the years, the arrival of Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and the emergence of Andrew Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez have added new stability to the side.

As a result of that, van Dijk’s defense has kept a clean sheet in their last eight Premier League games to be played at Anfield.

City posses a fine attack, but that type of record will give confidence to any back four, and they can definitely do a job on Guardiola’s attack.

Merseyside isn’t a fun place for any team to come. In fact, no side has walked away with three points in 24 games. That’s right, the Anfield side are unbeaten at home in their last 24 league games. If league titles are won on your own turf, the Reds are well on the way to a challenge this season.
