Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has sparked mass debate on the internet after posing a selfie on Instagram.

Salah pictured himself dressed in a Playboy t-shirt while wearing a balaclava in a move that has sent online message boards haywire.

As usual, defender Dejan Lovren couldn’t resist piping up and rather mysteriously replied with ‘come on brate post the other picture, you know which one’.

The forward has upped his social media game and regularly updates his 20 million followers on various aspects of his life. But this one in particular has gone fans talking about the direction of the 26-year-old’s content.

Many speculated that Salah was trying to move away from his clean cut and wholesome image, and may be upsetting his Egyptian fans in the process.

Citizens of the north African country can be more socially conservative, and according to Reddit translators several of his followers said that his choice of outfit wasn’t appropriate.

Earlier in the summer he copped some abuse for posting topless pictures, but has responded by uploading more than ever. For an interesting perspective on things, have a click through to the thread and read some of the comments.

On the pitch and Salah seems to have got over his early-campaign malaise. The forward looks more relaxed and isn’t snatching at chances.

He now has six goals in 12 games, and while he isn’t hitting the back of the net with the pace of his first Liverpool campaign, the star has scored six times in the past eight fixtures – and assisted twice.

Liverpool now have a wait before their next Premier League game as the international break is in full swing. Last time a number of key players picked up niggling injuries and gaffer Jurgen Klopp will be desperate to avoid a repeat.
