Liverpool could face losing Daniel Sturridge to suspension and that may hurry up a move for reported transfer target Cyril Ngonge in January.

Liverpool could be short of strikers soon with Daniel Sturridge being charged by the FA for misconduct after allegedly breaking their rules on gambling.

While details of the charge and allegations are still not forthcoming it is though it relates to passing on inside information to others rather than his own bets. He denies making any bets on football.

If he is found guilty he will be inline for a suspension that could last weeks, even months. That would leave Jurgen Klopp shorthanded at the striker position. Sturridge has been a handy alternative to rest Roberto Firmino and a good option from the bench; contributing four goals and an assist in only 350 minutes of football.

It looks as though Divock Origi will be sold in the January transfer window and there seems little real faith in the progress of Dominic Solanke. Rhian Brewster is one of the top young prospects in the Under 23 squad but he is recovering from a long-term ankle injury.

That could lead to Klopp dipping into the transfer market in the winter to reinforce his forward line. Chief target would be Cyril Ngonge who has been reported as a player on Klopp’s wish list.

The 18-year-old has been in excellent form in Europe; bagging four goals in four games in the youth Champions League group stage.

There are other top European teams vying for the wonderkid’s signature; Premier League rival Arsenal, Inter Milan, Valencia, Lille and Ateltico Madrid.

While the Liverpool defense has been exceptional this year there has been some regression with the frequency of goals from last season. Klopp will be keen to make sure he still has plenty of scoring options going into the second half of the season.
