Liverpool vs Watford: The awful Paul Merson prediction that’ll surprise nobody
Paul Merson has once again made an awful prediction about the upcoming Liverpool vs Watford game.
Sky Sports pundit Merson has a history of punting against the Reds, although he was strangely downbeat about Arsenal’s chances of victory against Jurgen Klopp’s side a few weeks ago.
The Hornets have been decent this season but Liverpool are still unbeaten in the Premier League and the smart money would have them to win all day long.
Klopp can also call on a full squad, meaning competition for places will be high – which should result in an increased level of drive and focus from the squad.

Several players are also coming into form. Mohamed Salah is flying high once again, Xherdan Shaqiri is thriving after his switch from Stoke to Anfield and Virgil van Dijk continues to deal with anything that’s thrown at him.
Merson seems to base the entire of his 2-2 prediction on the fact that Watford should have beaten Arsenal but didn’t, and should have beaten Newcastle United but didn’t. Oh yes, they also beat Tottenham – but so did the Reds.
And yes Liverpool do have a Champions League game coming up against PSG, but there is no evidence to suggest that it’ll cause them to slack off here. If anything, the whole squad knows performances need to be high in order to keep pressure on Manchester City.
Merson goes on to suggest that Watford will be too good for the Reds to beat, simply because the Hornets rev up for home games. But when you have quality from 1-11, you can rev up all you want but it won’t help if you’re not good enough.
Anything less than three points will have to count as a failure for Liverpool. They’re the better side and should be coming away with a victory. Please don’t let Paul be right!
