The good injury news on that duo will be a huge boost to Klopp who will be able to realistically play his preferred first eleven in either tomorrow’s fixture or Sunday’s Premier League clash with Everton.
Many believe his ideal lineup would be Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Keita, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mane.
The manager was reluctant to use Fabinho much in the early games of the season as the player adapted to the Premier League and Klopp’s system. Now he has a handful of games under his belt he is expected to begin to make the holding position his own – especially in th light of Jordan Henderson’s domestic suspension for picking up two yellow cards against Watford.
Just Fabinho was entering into contention Naby Keita missed out with injury meaning we still have seen the summer signings line up together in the starting eleven.
It was possible for both to play at Vicarage Road on Saturday but the manager wanted to give a run out to Henderson and have the creativity of Shaqiri. Even the boss had plumped for Fabinho and Keita it wouldn’t have been a full first eleven with Joe Gomez being sidelined.
There is an excellent chance we will get to the midfield many Liverpool fans have been longing for in the next five days.
