Liverpool on-loan striker Danny Ings is losing the race to be fit for Saturday’s clash with Manchester United as he battles a hamstring injury.

As Liverpool will be preparing to take on city rivals Everton on Sunday, there is one Red who is hoping to face off with the club’s other big enemy. On-loan forward Danny Ings is fighting to be fit to face Manchester United for Southampton this weekend.

However the news is not great for the English striker. He has been suffering from a hamstring injury for a few weeks and is now doubtful to be ready to heap more pain on Man Utd’s horrible Premier League season.

Ings is Southampton’s top scorer this season with five goals in his eleven appearances for the club in 2018/19. He joined the Saints in August on an initial one year loan that can extend to a permanent deal. He is expected to complete an £18 million move in July 2019.

Danny Ings is no stranger to dealing with injuries. He spent most of his three years at Anfield on the sidelines after a serious knee injury ruined his first 18 months on Merseyside.

As is the case with long-term absence he was prone other injuries on his return and only became fully fit for selection at the end of last season.

Despite being a popular member of the squad and player Jurgen Klopp rates highly, both parties agreed Ings needed to leave the club to find sufficient first team opportunities.

A move to his hometown club was an ideal chance for him to resurrect his career. He has grabbed that opportunity to prove himself as a dangerous Premier League striker.

There are also plenty of rumors that Divock Origi will also follow Danny Ings out of the door. That would leave some serious cash for Liverpool to splash on a forward such as Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund.
