Liverpool are facing a fight to keep impressive starlet Liam Millar as clubs from around Europe are circling.

The Daily Mail has reported that teams in Belgium, Holland, the USA and the Championship are all keeping an eye on the Canadian international.

Despite failing to make a senior appearance, the 19-year-old has been capped four times by his nation and is highly rated at Anfield.

Millar can sign a deal with an overseas side from January, which means Scottish sides have also been alerted to the fact that the starlet’s deal is running down.

He arrived from Fulham two years ago and has progressed through the Merseyside ranks at a good pace. After signing his first professional deal after moving up from London, the club have been slow to offer new terms and could now lose out.

Millar has also been impressing those involved with Canadian football and as a result has been nominated for player and young player of the year.

The forward has scored four goals in his last two games for Liverpool’s youth system. Before netting twice against Arsenal in the Premier League 2, the Canada native grabbed a double against PSG in the UEFA Youth League.

Could this be another example of someone who struggles for game time in an English senior side before launching a career abroad? Jadon Sancho continues to be one of the best Bundesliga players and Reiss Nelson is impressing as well.

These two have been blazing a trail abroad and it wouldn’t be a surprise if others look at the success, and minutes, the two are getting in Germany and followed them across the continent.

The Belgian and Dutch leagues are more suited to the development of youngsters – just look at the amount of talent Ajax have produced in the Eredivisie – and so it’s no surprise that those Low Countries clubs are keeping an eye on Premier League starlets.
