Liverpool to revive slumping Premier League midfielder
By David Gate
Liverpool could pull off a shock transfer move Pascal Gross to help revive the midfielders slumping career according to the latest reports.
File this one under ‘so weird and out of the blue, I kinda believe it’. According to today’s reports Liverpool are considering a £15 million bid for Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Pascal Gross.
The 27-year-old German playmaker has a release clause in his four-year contract. He signed for The Seagulls in 2017 and had an impressive first season in the Premier League. He had seven goals and eight assists and was the chief creative force for the newly promoted side.

This year he has struggled to match that form gaining only one goal and no assists in his nine league appearances. He has often not made the starting eleven as Brighton consolidate their top division status in mid-table.
Jurgen Klopp has previously stated he is a fan of his countryman but there has been little else to suggest that Liverpool could make a move.
While the Reds are still looking for a Philippe Coutinho replacement after the summer transfer fiasco surrounding Nabil Fekir it seems unlikely that Gross would be the next player on that list for a new playmaker.
However the club already signed one cheap playmaker from a smaller club in Xherdan Shaqiri and that has worked a charm. Signing Gross would allow the Swiss international to rotate more in the front three with the German alternating with Naby Keita as the creative hub of the midfield three.
The Liverpool transfer policy appears to be big extravagant purchases – Keita, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker – combined with smart bargain deals – Shaqiri and Andy Robertson.
Perhaps Gross will be a short-term investment to cover the midfield until Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain returns from injury. That will allow the big money to spent on a high-profile forward like Christian Pulisic in the summer.
