Conflicting reports have confused the issue surrounding Christian Pulisic’s £45 million move to Liverpool.

Firstly, the Daily Mail has written that the Reds will pip Arsenal to the Borussia Dortmund playmaker because they’re prepared to offer more. The Gunners also want to sign the 20-year-old, but are only prepared to pay £30 million.

That offering is just an initial one to test the waters, wrote the Mail, and the club may need to increase it by another £5 million if they want to land their man.

But then news filtered through on Twitter that sources in Germany say Chelsea have already got an agreement in place with Pulisic – and the American will join the Stamford Bridge outfit in the summer.

The Mail made no mention of the Blues’ interest in Dortmund’s star, but did write that Bayern Munich had shown a passing interest in Pulisic.

And so this looks like it’ll turn into a huge waiting game. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could move in January, but the target would be cup tied for the Champions League and wouldn’t be able to feature in Europe.

However, the Reds are competing for trophies on multiple fronts and a signing of this nature would boost the squad depth in attack. With Pulisic at the club, Klopp could shift Naby Keita back to his preferred central midfield position and keep the forward four fresher for longer.

Liverpool take on Arsenal at Anfield today in the afternoon kick off as they look to end the 2018 half of this campaign unbeaten. Klopp has already overseen his side going half the season without a loss, and three points against the Gunners would lay down a serious marker of intent.

But that doesn’t mean he is going to take his foot off the gas as the Daily Mail ran an article in which the German manager said he thinks the Reds can play ever better!
