Twitter has gone mad for the starlets Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp picked for their FA Cup game against Wolves on Monday night.

Klopp made a massive nine changes for the clash against the Midlands opposition and paid the price as the Reds lost 2-1.

That XI included starlets such as Curtis Jones, Rafa Camacho and Ki-Jana Hoever (who replaced Dejan Lovren after the Croatian went off injured after just six minutes).

It was a youthful team, but things still may have gone their way if it wasn’t for a James Milner error or Xherdan Shaqiri hitting the post with a free kick.

Divock Origi equalized for Liverpool after Raul Jiménez opened the scoring for the home side, but then Ruben Neves hit the winner just a few moments later.

Despite the loss, Twitter was full of praise for Klopp’s young guns. Jones, Comacho and Hoever all made their competative debuts for Liverpool – with 16-year-old Hoever becoming the third youngster player in Anfield history.

By the end of the game Klopp had 18-year-old Comacho at right-back, Hoever in the middle alongside Fabinho – who was playing out of position – and Alberto Moreno at left-back while 17-year-old Jones was stationed on the wing.

It’s disappointing that the Reds are out of another cup competition, but Klopp is entitled to use the full depth of his squad and players such as Moreno and Simon Mignolet deserve to have a chance to play.

Liverpool would have also wanted to rest key first team players, who haven’t had many days off this season. With the Premier League and Champions League to focus on, there probably won’t be much rotation between now and the end of the season.

Lovren went down with a hamstring problem and Klopp was unable to say how bad it was, but with Joe Gomez and Joel Matip already out it’s vital that he gets back into the side as soon as possible.
