Transfer rumors of a Liverpool bid for Burnley defender James Tarkowski have been knocked back by Clarets manager Sean Dyche this week.
We are almost half way through the January transfer window and hopes are fading that Liverpool will make a splash in the market this month. Rumors of a potential move for James Tarkowski of Burnley have been laughed off by his boss Sean Dyche.
The Clarets manager has called the news “bizarre” and dismissed it as speculation saying he has no knowledge of interest from Anfield for the England defender.

There were a flurry of fresh rumors last week after injuries took Liverpool down to Virgil van DIjk as the only fit center back. Jurgen Klopp was forced to play 16-year-old Ki-Jana Hoever and Fabinho against Wolves in the FA Cup with the Brazilian playing again at the back in the win against Brighton & Hove Albion.
With Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all recovering from injuries the speculation was the Liverpool would make a loan move for Tarkowski for the rest of the season. Dyche rightly dismissed that as impossible. There is no way they would want to lose him for nothing as they fight to stay in the Premier League.
Any projected move for Tarkowski is estimated above £35 million; even going up to £50 million by some experts.
Joel Matip was fit enough to train with squad last week and made the bench against Brighton. Dejan Lovren is expected to return to training this week and be available for Crystal Palace on Saturday. Joe Gomez should only be a week or two behind that pair.
That means Liverpool are highly unlikely to be buying a central defender in this transfer window and will ride out any difficulty by utilizing the current squad.
The summer may be different and Klopp could look to add a younger defender to the mix with Lovren the most likely departure.
