Premier League ready Harry Wilson has scored another superb goal and continues to give Liverpool fans great excitement for the future.

The Derby loanee helped put the Rams into the fourth round of the FA Cup after scoring their opener, which heralded a comeback and penalty win.

Southampton were up 2-0 before Wilson stepped up to a fairly innocuous looking free kick, but the Wales international somehow bent it around the wall and into the far side of the net.

Twitter has since exploded, with respected journalists and pundits passing comment about how good Wilson is and how the attacker continues to play well against Premier League opposition.

We might have suspected that the Welshman has talented, and he definitely showed glimpses of that while at Hull City for the last half of the previous campaign, but this spell under Frank Lampard has been really impressive.

With nine Championship goals in 19 starts, the 21-year-old has gone past his tally of seven from his days with the Tigers. Wilson also has an FA Cup and a League Cup goal – both free kicks against Premier League opposition – and he’s busied himself proving his ability.

This is one example of the loan system being used perfectly. Wilson was too good to be playing for the second string, but probably wasn’t at the standard required of first team players.

So Liverpool sent him out to the Championship for a season-and-a-half and have been able to watch him flourish as a player.

Crucially, Wilson has been a first team regular at Hull and Derby, which has given him the minutes required to grow and improve as a footballer. The next step will be to put him in the Reds side and give him a chance to prove his worth.
