Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that the knee injury of Trent Alexander-Arnold is not too serious and he could play against Crystal Palace.

Social media went into a mild panic this Tuesday after news was released that Trent Alexander-Arnold would miss four weeks with a knee injury. However Jurgen Klopp revealed today in his press conference that Alexander-Arnold is day-to-day and could feature against Crystal Palace tomorrow.

While we were aware that the knee injury was not devastating – a sprain rather than any actual damage – every indication was he would need a month to recover.

Klopp is now saying that Alexander-Arnold and Gini Wijnaldum are being evaluated each day and that the England full back is “close” to playing in the Premier League matchup with Palace at Anfield tomorrow.

Interestingly the manager said it was the injury he sustained in the warm up before the 1-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion. The strain was not made worse by playing 90 minutes and it is essentially the same condition in which he started last week’s game.

That means Alexander-Arnold could take to the field in front of the Kop tomorrow. However I see no way he makes the eleven.

Klopp has been resting the England international every few games anyway as younger players need more rest for avoiding long-term injuries. We also know the manager is more than happy to play James Milner at right back.

It is 11 days between the game against Crystal Palace and the visit of Leicester in the league. I see no way Klopp risks Alexander-Arnold this week in a game we should win, even with a make shift full back.

I suspect we will see Trent either against Leicester in the midweek fixture or West Ham the weekend after. No need to risk him with so much time between games.
