Liverpool are already developing their transfer strategy for this summer and we now have an indication of the direction from top journalist Paul Joyce.
On the back of excellent financial reports for Liverpool Football Club they are developing a plan to spend the profits. Paul Joyce of The Times has given an insight into the club’s transfer strategy for 2019.
It appears that the focus will be on investing in the current squad. As a flurry of new contracts has indicated the Reds are channeling their money into rewarding the players that took them to the Champions League final and this season’s title challenge.

The group of new contracts includes: Mohamed Salah; Roberto Firmino; Andrew Robertson; Trent Alexander-Arnold; Sadio Mane and Joe Gomez. This will be the core of the team for the next five years alongside more recent signings like Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Fabinho.
Joyce – one of the most reliable Merseyside journalists – claims that £150-200 million will be invested in those players. That indicates there won’t be a huge pot for new players.
However there is the common belief the club will sign at least one attacker with Timo Werner of RB Leipzig and Steven Berwijn of PSV Eindhoven the two hottest names.
The expectation is that there will be a lot players leaving Anfield in the next six months. Alberto Moreno and Daniel Sturridge are expected to leave when their contacts expire in the summer. James Milner is also out of contract and could join his boyhood club Leeds United if they are promoted.

Divock Origi, Simon Mignolet and Dejan Lovren are all in danger of being sold. Sheyi Ojo, Ovie Ejaria, Connor Randall and Ben Woodburn all have questions over their potential to break the first team.
If the club make some money from some of those players that may end up being more active in the summer window. Most fans would say we would need at least 3 or 4 new players, even if we win the Premier League.
