Liverpool fans will be happy to hear vice captain James Milner dislikes Manchester United as much as they do as the former Leeds man speaks about his childhood.
If you grew up in a Liverpool supporting house you probably also inherited a dislike of Everton and Manchester United. Reds vice-captain James Milner also grew up in a home that was strictly against the enemy at Old Trafford.
Milner was a boyhood Leeds United fan and was banned by his father from wearing red on any occasion. He jokes that the first time he ever played in red was for England and upon signing for Liverpool his dad remarked that this was the first time he was happy to see him in red shirt

After starting his career at Leeds he went on to play for Manchester City and, of course, Liverpool; he has featured for the trifecta of clubs that United fans traditionally hate most.
While at Aston Villa he played in a league cup final against Man Utd in 2010. Milner scored a penalty to open the scoring in the fifth minute before former ex-Liverpool striker Michael Owen equalized.
Wayne Rooney scored the winner for United in the second half but there was controversy in the game as many felt Nemanja Vidic should have been sent off for the early foul on Gabby Agbonlahor that resulted in Milner’s penalty.
That loss has lingered with the boyhood Leeds fan. He has scored once for Liverpool against them, back in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in 2017. That was also from the penalty spot.
He will be eager to get the starting nod when the two sides line up next on February 24th is a Premier League fixture that will go a huge way to deciding the fate of Liverpool’s title challenge.
