Liverpool fans are sceptical about the latest transfer news that indicates a €20 million deal has been confirmed for Abdülkadir Ömür.

Turkish outlet Ajansspor has indicated that the Reds have agreed a fee for 19-year-old Ömür, which was tweeted by verified football writer James Nalton.

And fans were quick to jump on the news, with the majority sceptical about the deal and worrying that he’ll turn out like fellow winger Oussama Assaidi.

Assaidi was signed by Brendan Rodgers from Heerenveen for £3.60 million, but barely played for the club before being loaned out to Stoke City and then sold to Al-Ahli in the UAE.

The Moroccan only featured 12 times for the Reds and was recently reported as criticizing Rodgers for only giving ‘big names’ a chance at Anfield and ignoring the smaller buys.

Ömür has already stated his desire to play in Europe, which appears as if it may be closer than it seems. According to Nalton, the attacker is quick and possesses good technical skills. He can play in a central area or out wide on the left, and is clearly young enough to develop into a fine footballer.

Despite his young age, the Trabzonspor star has already played 59 times for his club and has 11 assists and six goals.

The fee isn’t massive for a talented attacker with his age. Callum Hudson-Odoi appears to be off to Bayern Munich for nearly double, and he’s hardly played first team football.

Some are disappointed at the Ömür news, and believe that local players such as Ryan Kent or Harry Wilson should be given priority over an expensive important or may turn out to be more Lazar Markovic than Luis Suarez.

But Wilson likes to play on the right and cut inside on his stronger left foot, while Kent doesn’t appear to be anywhere near the first team.

Next. Where does Assaidi rank in Brendan Rodger's 32 Liverpool signings?. dark

If Liverpool made a transfer move for Ömür, they could still get the Turk and Wilson into the same side. Let’s just hope he doesn’t turn out to be another Assaidi.
