Liverpool: Popworld have won Twitter for the day as they celebrate Rafa Benitez
Liverpool legend Rafa Benitez masterminded a stunning defeat of Manchester City and Popworld used it to win Twitter for the day.
And that is a sentence I never thought I’d right, but it couldn’t be more true. Benitez used his Newcastle United side to give the Reds a Premier League boost, Paddy Power said something silly and the rest is history.
The Irish bookmaker through down the gauntlet for the club chain (see it all below) and they responded beautifully. Now all Liverpool have to do is beat Leicester City on Wednesday and life will be complete.
Benitez has endured a tough time of it in the north-east, and his win on Tuesday night brought a rare smile to the face of the Champions League winning manager.

After seeing Citeh take the lead in under a minute thanks to Sergio Aguero, the Magpies fought back as Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff proved to be too good at football for Pep Guardiola’s brilliance and millions.
Just a friendly reminder that one is an Arsenal reject who cost the Toon just £2.61 million in 2016 and the other an Academy graduate who has only started three Premier League games. Oh, and Hayden doesn’t even want to be at Newcastle.
Loan striker Salomón Rondón scored the first after an assist from Hayden, before Matt Ritchie held his nerve to smoke home a penalty and spark delirious Geordies into rapturous celebrations.
Watching Benitez grin and tuck his specs into his jacket pocket doesn’t hurt either.
Liverpool still need to win on Wednesday night to make the most of it, but Newcastle have given the Reds a clear shot at destiny. A seven point gap will be massive. A cushion of two wins and a draw.
The squad has composure, and all they have to do is keep it. But for now, let’s indulge this beautiful tweet for a little while longer.
