Liverpool are still causing fear among the Man City squad as midfielder Ilkay Gundogan admits that the Reds are “second to none”.
Liverpool are still well and truly in the heads of the Man City players. This was revealed once again today as Ilkay Gundogan confessed that the Reds are “second to none”.
Speaking to German media outlet Sport Bild he was speaking about Bayern Munich’s chances against Liverpool in the Champions League last 16 tie next week.

The Bundesliga champions head to Anfield next Tuesday for the first game in the knockout stages and Gundogan is giving his countrymen warning of what to expect:
“I honestly see Liverpool a bit ahead of Bayern. They can set Anfield on fire and develop a momentum that is second to none.”
Man City felt the fire firsthand last season as they lost in both the league and Champions League at Anfield. They were huge wins for Jurgen Klopp’s side as the team was growing into the devastating force they are now.
Gundogan goes on to warm: “In fifteen minutes you can concede three goals. If Bayern can survive at Liverpool, they will be able to beat any side at home.”
It is still possible that Man City will have to return to Liverpool again this season if they both win their last 16 games and are drawn in either the quarter finals – like last year – or even the semi-finals.
That fear of the Anfield roar is lingering throughout the psyches of the City players. The two sides are locked in a fierce battle for the Premier League title with both teams likely to score over 90 points in a historic battle.
Every piece of psychological advantage is huge. A big Champions League victory over Bayern Munich will only confirm the fears Man City have about Klopp’s Reds.
