Liverpool take on Bayern Munich as they kick off their quest to reach the quarter final of the Champions League. Read how to live stream the match for free!

This is a battle of second against second, albeit across two different continents and separate leagues.

Despite their apparent parity within the domestic system, the Reds are enjoying a much better season than Munich. They are level on points with Manchester City and have played one game less – while Borussia Dortmund are a clear five points ahead of Bayern.

One thing that’s clear is how various pundits expect Liverpool to overcome their German rivals on Tuesday night. Evening Standard journalist Vaishali Bhardwaj thinks the Anfield crowd will help the Reds get the win, while Mariano Trujillo reckons Bayern will stand no chance against the pace of the Liverpool attack.

Liverpool are going through their own problems at the back as Virgil van Dijk is suspended, which may require Fabinho to step into defence.

But, Robben has one side and one stadium he hates playing at more than any other and it’s Anfield. So could there be an advantage to the Reds already?

Ilkay Gundogan is no stranger to the atmosphere generated by the Kop and he’s also thrown his two cents into the well of popular opinion and issued a warning to Bayern players before they make the trip to England.
