Liverpool have a huge question about the injury of status of Roberto Firmino for the Premier League title race after the draw with Man Utd yesterday.

Liverpool are top of the league despite a mediocre showing against Man Utd at Old Trafford yesterday. However the main concern of fans is the injury status of Roberto Firmino for the Premier League title run-in.

After the collective frustration of not capitalizing on United’s own injury issues to grab three points the social media attention turned to the exact nature of Firmino’s injury and a timetable for his absence.

There is huge concern that he could miss a significant number of games. The pictures of him rolling on his ankle make it look serious.

However he did not fall to the ground in agony and he initially thought he could continue and run it off. That did not prove to be the case but the lack of immediate agony suggests it will be a sprain rather than a break or ligament tear.

An ankle sprain could mean 4-6 weeks out or it could simply be a bunch of ice and rest for a few days and he’ll be ready for next weekend or even the midweek matchup with Watford.

I would guess the Watford game will be too soon but we are still waiting to hear from inside Melwood the extent of the injury.

Fans will be suspicious of any timeframe released by the club after a number of players have had absences longer than the club’s initial assessments.

Joe Gomez was slated to only miss six weeks but we are now almost twelve weeks into this injury absence with no firm date for his return.

Both Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Rhian Brewster were initially expected to return from their long term injuries from last season earlier than they have been.

The underwhelming showing from Daniel Sturridge yesterday has only increased the clamor to get news on Firmino and it’s implications to the title race.
