Records were made and Mohamed Salah was slammed as Liverpool drew 0-0 against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The Reds failed to hit the back of the net as they played out a boring draw against the Red Devils on Sunday afternoon.

Despite manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer using all three of his substitutions in the first half, Liverpool failed to find a way through Manchester United’s tiring defence and were forced to settle for the point.

And it was the first time since January 2015 that a top fight side has used all their changes before the end of the first half.

Salah has failed to score against the Old Trafford side in each of his last four appearances, and it’s a curious stat for such a word class forward to have.

But it wasn’t just the Egyptian who came in for some flack as the entire front line was down from their usual levels. Roberto Firmino limped off before half time with a bad ankle, Daniel Sturridge couldn’t get going and Sadio Mane’s deficiencies in front of goal were once again present.

The result means Liverpool go top of the Premier League by one point. Manchester City, who won the League Cup on Sunday, trail them. City take on West Ham on Wednesday before an away trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Meanwhile Liverpool play Watford during the week before a huge Merseyside derby against Everton on Sunday.

Getting a point against United may feel like it’s two dropped, especially with City breathing down Jurgen Klopp’s neck, but it’s actually a good result. Solskjaer has the team playing well, while Paul Pogba is in revolutionary form.

Klopp just has to get the front three playing like their old selves and Liverpool should have no problem beating teams like Watford and Everton.
