After last night’s thrashing against Watford, Liverpool will be thinking about how much they have missed Trent Alexander-Arnold when he was injured.

Trent Alexander-Arnold bagged three assists for Liverpool against the Hornets, and they all were quite brilliant. Each assist was a whipped ball into the box with not only pace, but just the right amount of curl as well.

The performance even impressed ex-Manchester United player Ryan Giggs according to Fox Sports,

"“Alexander-Arnold it was Beckhamesque,” the United legend said. “Six or seven crosses which were unbelievable and you can’t defend that. Mane scored the first one and then Van Dijk a couple, the delivery into the box was outstanding. His energy also up and down, Salah back to his best constantly causing problems down the right hand side”"

Giggs is absolutely right here too, the young wing-back is a mere twenty years old, and he was picking apart the Watford defense. There has not been an Englishman in a while that can pass the ball like him with the same whip, the last might honestly be Becks.

Defensively, James Milner and Fabinho filled the hole at right back very well. However, offensively they struggled to really combine in on the attack, because they aren’t wingers, they like to play up the middle of the pitch. This held back the offense a little because as we all witnessed last year, TAA and Mo Salah combine oh so well down the right hand side.

Both players can switch off into the middle, and turn any which way. If Salah feels pressured he can pass back into support, and Trent can whip a ball into the box from a high position. The overlaps they were running against Watford put Adam Masina in a blender. It was really a nightmare for the Italian defenseman.

Now it looks very clear that the youngster should have started against Manchester United this past weekend. Obviously, the 20 year old’s delivery was not as good at the beginning of the year, however, last night was proof that if he is healthy he needs to be included in the Liverpool squad.
