Liverpool play Everton on Sunday in the Merseyside derby and these are five stats that prove the Reds will smash the Blues!

Marco Silva and his mob may be fresh off a decent win, but Jurgen Klopp will be no match for the Portuguese gaffer and there are at least five reasons that prove it.

This doesn’t really need to be said but the most obvious one is 10 years in the making. That’s how long you have to go back to find the last Everton win in the Merseyside derby and with Paul Konchesky and Sotiris Kyrgiakos starting in defence you can kinda see why.

Actually it’s pretty interesting to see that the Toffies had Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka in the first XI that day – which just shows the extent that their squad is ageing.

Silva’s side struggle to put the ball in the back of the net against Liverpool and that is bound to cause a frustrating Merseyside derby for the Blues. They’ve only scored three times in the last six meetings between the two sides, and the Reds’ defence is on fire having kept three Premier League clean sheets in a row.

You can’t talk about the defence and neglect to mention Alisson Becker, who has been a sensation since arriving from AS Roma in the summer. The Brazilian has kept more clean sheets than anyone else in the league with 16 – three more than national teammate Ederson.

Everton are also shocking from dead ball situations and lead the league with the amount of goals conceded from them (13). That’ll have Trent Alexander-Arnold licking his lips, and Virgi van Dijk will have good memories from his debut last year.

Klopp, too, has got good memories of the Merseyside derby and the Liverpool boss hasn’t ever lost a game against Everton. Since his appointment in 2015 is unbeaten in the six clashes between the two sides.
