Football icon Pele has backed Liverpool to win the Premier League and he is sticking with his prediction as he celebrates Kenny Dalglish on social media.

Monday was the birthday of the King; Kenny Dalglish turned 68 years old and he received a birthday message from soccer icon Pele. The Brazilian also found the time to back Liverpool to win the Premier League!

Pele is the common consensus ‘best player of all time’ (at least until Lionel Messi retires and steals the crown). Having his support is a welcome boost after many are flaking on their hope for a league win.

More from Rush The Kop

Most casual observers are moving away from their predictions of Liverpool claiming a first league title in almost 30 years. The Reds slipped behind Man City in the title race after the disappointing 0-0 draw at Goodison Park on Sunday.

They have lost the seven point advantage that they had accrued by New Year’s Day and now sit one point behind City. The Reds now need their rivals to drop points while going flawless themselves over the last nine games.

However, Jurgen Klopp is not downcast. He is encouraged that the side have recovered the steel and defensive strength that got them into this position in the first place. Now we need Mohamed Salah to regain his form and a fully fit and firing Roberto Firmino.

The Reds have drawn a blank in three of their last four games – against Everton, Manchester United and Bayern Munich. Granted those are tough games but the consecutive draws against Leicester City and West Ham are what is really hurting the title chances at present.

dark. Next. Who Was Liverpool Man-of-the-Match against Everton?

We are all hoping that Pele knows what he’s talking about and Liverpool can ride out the remainder of the Premier League season undefeated and with a big old shiny trophy and a bus ride around Merseyside at the end of it!
