Liverpool will turn their focus to winger Julian Brandt after the Liverpool ECHO rule out moves for two record-breaking summer transfers.
The ECHO is often the breaker of big Liverpool transfer news, for good and bad. Today’s serving is thoroughly in the disappointing column as two huge transfers were ruled out. However, the latest news could open up a path for the Reds to pursue Bayer Leverkusen attacker Julian Brandt.
It looks as if Liverpool won’t be breaking any transfer records this summer as the hot rumor of a move for want-away Juventus forward Paulo Dybala is deemed too expensive. The Argentinian playmaker would command around £100 million in this transfer market.

That is beyond what the Reds want to spend on an individual in 2019. Equally, that almost certainly rules them out of the running for Ajax wonderkid Matthijs de Ligt.
The center back is one of the hottest young stars in Europe and Liverpool were thought to be part of the crowd angling for the Dutchman’s signing. That was fueled by the player saying a transfer move to Anfield “could happen”.
However it appears the transfer fee for de Ligt is also becoming prohibitive. He is now valued at £75 million, up from just £55 million a month or so ago; due in large part to his performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
While those transfers have been ruled out, nothing has been mentioned of Julian Brandt who is gaining increased speculation over a move to Anfield.
He has been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar for a few years and could be the fourth attacker he desires to complement Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.
He would also be available within the £25-35 million range which appears to be the kind of purchases that Liverpool will make this summer.
