Liverpool pulling off a transfer coup and signing Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi would be a real statement, but that’s exactly why it won’t happen.
German publication Sports Bild reported that the Reds were thinking about making a move for Hudson-Odoi, but would have to fight off interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea dragged their heels during the January transfer window and as a result their talented 18-year-old stayed at Stamford Bridge, despite strong interest from Bayern and a submitted transfer request by Hudson-Odoi.
But Blues manager Maurizio Sarri still hasn’t handed his starlet a Premier League start, and as a result of that CHO rumours have been starting up again.

And it’s great to see that Liverpool are interested in bringing such a sparkling talent to Anfield and it would be a huge statement of intent, but that’s exactly why the Chelsea hierarchy won’t allow it to happen.
Jurgen Klopp has already admitted that he had his eye on Jadon Sancho before Sancho moved to Borussia Dortmund, but the deal couldn’t be done because English top flight sides don’t sell their best talent to each other.
Imagine, just imagine, if Chelsea sold Hudson-Odoi to Liverpool. Never mind the £40 million or whatever that they’d bank – that’s irrelevant. The mere act of strengthening your rival, long term, and weakening your own future prospects would have the prawn sandwich brigade up in arms.
The winger has shown his flashes of quality this season, which is why big teams are so keen to sign the lad. It also makes you wonder why Sarri isn’t giving him more of a game – and the same goes for Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Next season will come massive pressure on the manager to either sell up or start Hudson-Odoi. But you can be almost 100% sure of one thing, he won’t be sold to Liverpool.
