Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur thanks to an own goal from Toby Alderweireld, to which Virgil van Dijk booting the ball out of Anfield in celebration.

Roberto Firmino opened the scoring for the Reds, before Lucas Moura levelled scores. It seemed like the Reds would drift towards a draw and the end of their Premier League dream before Alderweireld bundled one into his own net.

Obviously, the only sane reaction would be to grab the football, sprint over towards the celebrating team and absolutely boot it out of Anfield and in to orbit.

Top work Virg, we’re all fans.

Van Dijk had another titanic display and underlined why he’s so vital to the cause, although there may be a slight injury worry with him. With the next league game on Friday against Southampton, Klopp will hope that it’s nothing too serious.

Sadio Mane wasn’t able to continue his electric scoring streak while Mohamed Salah drew a worrying blank, but with Firmino hitting the back of the net the strong partnership that this front three has developed continues to bear fruit.

Fabinho was a surprise pick on the bench, while James Milner preferred alongside Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum. As is customary now, Xherdan Shaqiri didn’t even make the pitch while Naby Keita kicked his heels alongside the Swiss international.
