Southampton welcome Liverpool to St Marys on Friday night and their manager Ralph Hasenhüttl has explained why the Reds are among the best in the league.

Jurgen Klopp will take the lads down south and try to go top of the Premier League again, but first they have to beat a Saints side who have experienced an upturn in form.

You’d expect Liverpool to be able to rock up and put a few goals past Southampton, but that’s not how life goes in the top flight – where every game could be an upset.

And despite warm words from Hasenhüttl, the Reds will still have to be on their best form in order to beat the Austrian’s side.

Klopp represents a unique challenge for the Premier League newbie, who hasn’t yet played against a team who sets out in the way Liverpool do.

“It’s the first time we play against a very good pressing team and the style of football I prefer,” said Hasenhüttl.

The official Southampton website carried the quotes from their gaffer, who clearly likes the way the Reds go about their football and wants to emulate their style.

Hasenhüttl also carried on to say why Liverpool are the best in the league, and what makes them so difficult to play against.

Klopp has put together a team that can battle it out in an arm wrestle with the opposition – think of strong guys like Virgil van Dijk – but the Reds also combine perfectly with ‘technical qualities, speed and good organisation,’ which is why the Saints boss thinks they are so hard to beat.

“You can think why it’s so difficult to win against this team,” continued the former RB Leipzip gaffer, who also stated that he find the style of Liverpool pleasing on the eye.

Liverpool also possess ‘good balance’, and have a clear idea of what they are trying to achieve on the pitch, according to the Saints’ manager.

And that, my friends, makes the Reds so dangerous and it’s why Hasenhüttl likes Liverpool so much.
